News Sunburn Grand Prix Double National at Texas Motor Speedway Race Report

Texas Motor SpeedwayWe got back early this morning, everyone is tired, but what an awesome job our crew and driver did!!

On Thursday evening we were loaded up and started out for Texas Motor Speedway’s Sunburn Grand Prix Double National event. When we arrived there to see the track for the first time was a wonderful experience. You imagine all the Nascar drivers going around on the track and here we are in the middle of it getting ready to do the same thing ourselves. As we approached the track the lights were on outlining the track and it was beautiful. The weather was threatening rain but it would not matter it was great to be here.

We signed up for the tune and test day which is Friday so the crew chief and Crispin worked all day tunning the cars to the track. After a whole day of practice Crispin and the crew chief (Grandpa) got the cars ready for Qualifying in the morning. My son is coming to help tune and Crispin’s cousin Geoff will help with any other jobs they need done tires, ect.We girls get to cook ,clean and run for timeing sheets and other jobs necessary to help the guys out.

Crispin in the pits at Texas Motor SpeedwayThere are 30 Spec Miatas qualifying and that is why we chose to come here Crispin qualified the Miata 6th not bad.Crispin takes the Gt2 car out next. There are 25 cars in this class ( combined classes).Crispin qualified 11th overall 3rd in the Gt2 class. The crew will get the cars ready for the 20 lap race which is next. The Spec Miata class is pretty close on times it was a real good race Crispin finished 11th and will get in the Gt2 car for that race. They will start 25 cars in the race In lap 14 Crispin cut a tire down so he had to pull off the track finishing 21st but 4th in his class. Crispin and the crew will get the cars ready for Sunday for this is a double National.

So far the weather is holding off it is starting to get warm out. The Spec Miata is first to qualify in which Crispin qualified 11th and will take the Gt2 car out next. Crispin qualified 11th overall and 2nd in his class. The crew will get the cars ready for the race. With the weather holding off the weekend has been very nice. Crispin has met a lot of new friends here and was glad to see Wiley from Royal Purple here. Crispin has talked to him on the phone but hasn’t seen Wiley in quite some time. They had a good conversation about racing and cars in general. It was good to see Wiley where we could sit down and talk awhile.Crispin has to get ready to go out on the track in the Spec Miata. Great racing all over the track in this class in which Crispin finished 6th. Gt2 class is next lot of fast cars in this class.Crispin finished 7th out of 25 cars and 2nd in his class not to far away in times with Scott. It was awesome listening to the Gt cars go around the Nascar track because the sound is spectactular. Almost as loud as the Nascars but not quite as much. Good racing in this class also. Both of our cars ran great. Will load up the cars and head home and get ready for the next race at Road America.

Again I want to thank my son George, Geoff and the girls for helping out. Without all of them working together we could not get this done. It takes a lot of team work At home there are a lot of people on the side lines that help also so I would like to thank them also.

Hope to see everyone at Road America.
