News St. Louis Heat Wave Regional Race Report

We Arrived at Gateway International Friday evening and started unloading the cars to set up for the Heat wave Regional tomorrow.

Crispin’s Gt 2 will qualify first on Saturday morning. The crew chief has worked out all the problems so the Mazda Rx7 should run pretty well. Our next entry is the Saferacer Spec Miata which Crispin has never run before. Saferacer’s crew has been working on it to get it ready for Crispin to use for the Runoffs... It is replacing the Purple Spec Miata which we found out lost a lot of power so Sam Henry at Springfield Dyno will repair the problem. We Took the Saferacer Spec Miata out for qualifying in the Regional race today. Crispin qualified it 3rd but with some fine tuning the Crew Chief thinks Crispin can do better. Ended up not taking the cars out for the regional race because of a down pour didn’t want to get the cars in trouble.Loaded the cars in the trailer and set out to see the Arch downtown Saint Louis and then go to dinner. Haven’t had time to do the scenic thing all year for we have been too buisy so went to relax alittle. We all sat down for a relaxing dinner not knowing it was our Victory dinner winning both classes the next day.

Sunday morning we took the Royal Purple/Phil’s Tire RX-7 out for qualifying and Crispin put it on the pole and fast time overall. No record but turned a 1:03:855.Took the car in for the Crew Chief to tune on. Next Crispin will take the Saferacer Spec Miata out to qualify. Saferacer’s crew did a great job putting this car together. Crispin likes the way it handles. Crispin put it on the pole also. The Saferace car is different which crispin prefers over the purple and yellow miata.

Mazda Rx 7The Heat Wave National is next will race 28 laps. Crispin had a good race going with a Gt1 car but let him go for the overall win but Crispin won his class and 2nd overall. Did not want to run the Mazda Rx 7 too hard it needs to go to Prather Racing for an engine rebuild for the Runoffs.

Saferacer’s Spec Miata will start on the pole for the race but in qualifying Crispin had a mechanical issue which was repaired for the race, luckily it was only minor. Crispin had a good race going with Kyle Jones and did not know what happened to Richard Wiese and Chris Edens who were drafting trying to catch the two front runners.

All in all we had a good race this weekend and need to thank Saferacer and Dave Jones for all the help, thank you for the family members that helped also.

Really wanna thank Derek Grensham, Chris James, Shane James,  and especially Charlie James himself for all the help with our spec miata program. He offered us a car, a very strong car at that for us to use and I wanna thank all of them for there hard work and time.

Phil’s Tire service for all the special shaved tires, and all the advice he’s helped me with all year. He’s one of my biggest Supporters.

Also wanna thank Wiley Alexander for all the Royal Purple. With the combination of Jesse Prathers Engine work and Purple Oil our RX-7 has run near flawless.

See everyone at MAM. Thank you for all the support and look for Crispin in the October issue of Sportscar magazine.

We just found out that Crispin might have won the Regional in his Gt2 car for the year and is 4th in the National Points and is in the Super Sweep with this car.
