News St. Louis and Hallett SCCA National Reports

Crispin Beaver’s team headed to Gateway International on March 26 for our first SCCA national. We needed to do some testing so we entered the Regional races for Saturday. Jesse Prather has built the GT2 and the Miata motor. We finally got both cars together and we hope to do well with them.

In the GT2 class there are no entries so we couldn’t compare our car to other cars for that class, but overall the GT2 car is very fast. Jesse Prather did a superb job on the motor. Like last year the weather is not very good. For tomorrow it looks like rain. We hope it won’t be like last year.

Needless to say it is cold out! We took the GT2 car for the warm up and brought it in for some mechanical changes in the first practice session, and did the same with the miata. We only planned on running the regional in the miata, but due to some mechanical errors we decided to enter the GT2 car also. During the GT2 regional race the car was flawless. During the regional Crispin broke the GT2 track record. Next is the Spec Miata class. Crispin finished 3rd he said the new motor is great.

Sunday morning we skipped the qualifying for GT2 car due to rain. Still no shows in GT2, so you could say it was an easy win for us in the National Sunday. After qualifying on the pole in the miata Crispin managed to finish second in the spec miata race, but was DQ’d for being underweight.

All in all it was a good weekend. Not an awful way to start off the season, we were fast. And that’s what counts.I want to apologize to everyone for our mistakes but will move on to the next race at Hallett on the 11th of April.

Crispin wants to thank: Jesse Prather, Ron’s towing, Phil Phillips and Kim, Wiley Alexander and Royal Purple, Wally Jr. and Wally Sr.( they cam from Chicago to watch me race), Dave Jones and anyone else who helped me for Saint Louis.

On April 9, 2010 the team headed for Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. The crew chief and his son George Jr. are still fine tunning the Gt2 car. Jesse Prather did an awesome job on the 13b. The car is very fast.Still trying to get the set up right on the Spec Miata. Crispin entered both cars in the Regional race so we can tune the cars better. We were hoping to get some Gt2 cars but that did not happen. Crispin broke his own track record in the Gt2 car with a 1:18.982 the car and Crispin are awesome. In the Regional race Crispin broke the record in lap 5 but Crispin said it had more in it but he pulled in to adjust the car.

On the National day the weather is very nice for a change. Took the Gt2 car out first for qualifying and there are no entries in our class again ( where are they?) Crispin would like to have someone to run with. Crispin took it easy and just worked on tunning the car. Took the Spec Miata out 15 cars in that class qualified 6th. In the race Crispin finished fourth. All in all the weekend was great not worried about our cars they are good. Would like to thank all of Crispin’s friends and family that came out to see him race and Tommy for the help on the Gt2 car,Jesse Prather, Royal Purple for the great oil products, Phil’s Tire Service, SafeRacer for sponsoring SCCA, and Carbotech brakes they are great. I have never tried these brakes before and I really like them. Hope to see everyone at our next race.
