News SCCA Runoffs at Road America

Arrived at Road America on Monday after visiting with family in the Chicago area over the weekend. Beautiful track and still very challenging you do not take it litely it is not forgiving. A four mile track that will keep you focused at all times.

When we left for Road America we were certain we had a very fast car. The crew chief made a lot of changes that promised to be very challenging on the track. As everyone knows Road America’s weather is a big factor and it did not fail once again. Temperatures were very cool and rain.

Crispin will qualify in the rain at 8:00 a.m. so we are first out. Track is very wet but the car handled very well changes have worked although you can’t tell a lot in the wet but we could tell the difference in the handling of the car. Crispin qualified 2nd and will qualify again tomarrow at 10:30 but by the time the track was cleared from debry from other cars Crispin went out at 11:00 a.m. Weather has changed to sunshine but cool the Mazda Rx 7 will like that. Crispin came in and said the car is pushing horribly he fell back to 8th. Crew chief looked the car over and made adjustments but also found out the yoke and bearing were broken in the drive shaft which would make the car vibrate. They went to the auto parts store to find the parts to fix the problem for we qualify again tomarrow.

Got the Mazda Rx7 back on track. Crispin drove the wheels off the car said it is handling great. Will go anywhere he put it. Crispin qualified 5th but will start 8th in the race. Crispin races on Sunday the weather is cool but sunny we go out at 10:30 a.m. but that was delayed because of debry from other racers. Went out at 11:00 a.m. the car was good for three laps got out to 4th place from 8th when the vibration came back. After 12 laps Crispin had to pull in the vibration was horrible he had to fall back finishing 12 out of the 13 lap race finishing 10th.

Crispin had a very fast car all their hard work showed on the track but an on for seen problem came and cost us the race. We all enjoyed being at Road America and want to commend all the workers for toughing out the weather like they did.

We also want to thank Wiley from Royal Purple, Jesse Prather for building the great horse power, Alan and Kathy Ivey from Auto Body Supply, Phil and Kim from Phil’s Tire Service, Tynis Construction, Al’s Gas, Scott’s Equipment Rental, Goodyear for a great tire and thank you to the guys who helped with my Aim.

Thank you to the Crew Chief ( GRANDPA), Geoff tire changer and golpher, Crinis (sister) misc. jobs and mom for whatever is asked of her.

Crispin’s next race will be in his Late Model at Lebanon Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri. Hope to see our fans there.
