News Mechanical Gremlins Don't Slow Beaver; Wins at Road America

The youngest race driver in his class made another first time visit in his rookie year with the NASA series... this time picking up a pair of wins at Wisconsin's famed Road America.

In Saturday's race at the ultra-fast road course, the engine on Beaver's Tynis Concrete/Royal Purple/Mac's Mazda RX 7 had fuel pick-up problems that slowed him a bit in addition to clutch issues, but he was still able to win in his first visit to the track. His car achieved the fastest speeds it has ever recorded flat out in fifth gear on Road America's long front straightaway.

Some minor tuning on the clutch got the car ready for Sunday's race, but the fuel pick-up problems were more difficult to solve. The crew began working at 6am and Crispin was unable to participate in the day's qualifying or morning warm-up. Starting from the back, Beaver took the lead and was able to win the race despite the engine cutting out in long corners.

The team will test the fuel system at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in late August. In the meantime Crispin holds a commanding lead in the NASA Super Unlimited points race with seven wins and one second place finish for the season.
