News Green County Grand Prix!

Crispin's GT2 CarWe just got back from the Green Country Grand Prix held at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. It was good to see the people at Hallett once more. This is where Crispin got his Auto Racing start. Clyde was there taking his great photos once more and Scott was very helpful also. One of Crispin's friends Scott Kidder was there to help wrench. He would make a great crew chief. Scott is full of good advice. Crispin's Uncle George was there to wrench and advise also.

This is Crispin's second race with SCCA and hopefully the weather will not be like Gateway on the 28th and 29th. The crew arrived Friday evening to get registered and teched. Afterwards began getting the cars ready for Saturday's Regional Races. Crispin will be running the GT2 car in qualifying only to save the car for the national event on Sunday. Crispin qualified 4th in the GT2 which is not good. The crew chief will need to make some adjustments. Took the Spec Miata out to qualify and put it on the pole but Crispin is not used to the way the car handles. It is set up a lot different than his other Miata, but the adjustments will have to be made at home. The Miata is fast but Crispin has different things he likes on a car and that is what makes him and the car fast. In the Regional Race Crispin finished 2nd in the Spec Miata. Will work on both cars for tomorrow's National Races.

Needless to say, when we got up Sunday morning the winds were gusting and very cold! Saturday was gusty but the temperature was nice. All of the ideas yesterday have to change. The GT2 is our first for qualifying. Crispin qualified the Mazda Rx7 2nd. It is still not running right. Back to the drawing board. Took the Spec Miata out for qualifying but it is not handling right either though it is fast. Crispin is more comfortable with it set up differently, but will have to wait until we get home. This is the second race with this car for we just bought it for the new year. Needs fine tuning to fit Crispin's needs but is a good car.

Made the necessary adjustments and hope we went the right direction for the National Race is next. The GT2 is first up. After having conversation with Uncle George, our crew chief, and Scott Kidder, we think we have a handle on it. Crispin won the GT2 class and has the SCCA Hallet GT2 track record but the car still is not running like it can. There were some fast cars in the class.

Crispin went out with the Spec Miata, started second but fell back after getting off the track and lost time to the leaders. Had a good fight with Jim Drago and finished 4th. Will take the cars home and make more adjustments and get ready for the Heartland Park next month.

Crispin would like to thank his Uncle George, Scott Kidder, Grandpa, his crew chief, Geoff Ledford tire changer and the rest of the crew for helping with weather as bad as it was. Everyone stuck with it. Thank you SCCA, you have a nice club. I am glad I joined. Everyone has treated me good and has watchful eyes on me.

Also, I want to thank my sponsors: Royal Purple, Phil's Tire Service, Tynis Construction and Scott's Equipment Rental. By the way, Phil still has magic in his tires. Without everyone's help, I would not be able to do this.
