News Firecracker Grand Prix Race Report

You would think Hallett being our home track we would not have to fight gremlins, but that is not so.

On Saturday we took the Gt2 Mazda Rx7 out for practice and the mechanical problems are still there. The Crew Chief is having a hard time getting a handle on it, same problem all the time made all kinds of changes but nothing has worked. Went out for the Regional race and finished 3rd 8th overall. Not a very good performance. Brought it in and got the Spec Miata ready. It was very hot all day with periods of rain.

This is the first time out for the 1995 Purple Spec Miata. It has been in storage but have to use it as a back up car. Took it out for the Regional race and it is terrible! Crispin was one second off the fast time. The car handled well but had no power. After nine laps brought it in to see if anything can be done. Did not take the Miata out for practice it was raining too hard.

Will work on both cars for tomorrows National event.

After working on both cars for quite some time Crispin took the Mazda Rx7 Gt2 out for qualifying and put it on the pole. Crispin takes the Miata out next. Even with the Miata being sick Crispin qualified it 5th But it jus seemed a little low on power. Crispin had all he could do to keep it in the 5th position.

The crew chief prepared the Mazda’s for the National race. Crispin took the Gt2 Mazda Rx7 out first. Weather is hot and humid. Crispin broke his own track record with 1:19:344 and finished first. Gremlins are gone in this car now for the Miata. The Purple Miata just does not have any power finished 5th again but had all we could do to stay there. Will take it home and find out what is wrong. Crispin felt embarrassed for he knows he can do better.

When we got home the Crew Chief took the Miata to Sam Henry to look at and yes it is sick. It lost almost 30 horse power. Crispin won’t be able to use this car. Charlie James, Saferacer Founder recently contacted us and volunteered to let Crispin use one of his cars. Charlie and Crispin talked a little and agreed on the 1992 Spec Miata. Grandpa did some body work on it and Charlie James at Saferacer will put the motor and transmission in and have Sam Henry Dyno it.

We are very much in debt for having Charlie James offering us to use one of his cars for the rest of the season. It is a very rare opportunity that most people would not commit too. I want to thank Charlie, his son Chris, and Derek Grensham for there help with helping me get back into a Spec Miata.

Also wanna thank everyone who visits the website every month. I’m verryyy greatful for all the support all of my fans and friends and family have given me in my pursuit to achieve my life goals. Thank you all again.
