Crispin Takes 2nd, 1st at Gateway International
May 19th, 2008
After returning from Gateway International the crew started getting ready for Putnam Park May 17-18, 2008. They left Thursday evening to arrive on Friday and unload for the following day's event. After checking the car over on Saturday morning, Crispin went out for the warm-up at 9:00 am where he was 2nd quick despite having never been on the track in a Spec Miata.
Qualifying was scheduled for 11am and Crispin put the car on the outside of the front row in the 22-car field. The Phil's Tire/Royal Purple Mazda finished the main event in the same position, just half a car length from victory in the weekend's first event.
Still on the same set of rubber from Phil's Tire, the car was a bit quicker the following morning and practiced faster than anyone in the field. The Spec Miata field had increased to 24 entries out of a total field of 56 cars. Crispin ran a clean race out front, finishing first in class during the 35-minute event.
The team will return to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in a few weeks, where Crispin has numerous wins and one championship title to his credit.
