News Consecutive Wins Keep Crispin Atop NASA Points Chase

Two days before the race at the Mid-America Motorplex road course track at Pacific Junction, Iowa, the crew was breaking in a new motor and the oil cooler busted. The crew had to order another oil cooler next day to get it here on time for them to put it in. By Thursday they got the job done and were on the way by 3:30 p.m. Arrived at the track around 8:30 p.m. and started to set up for Friday’s practice which they were going to use to break in the motor rather than look for speed. Practice went very well Crispin adapted to the track right away. This was his first time at this track.

In the following morning's practice Crispin had fast time in the session 1:41.568 out of 20 cars. He then qualified even quicker, at 1:38.558, to score the second fastest time all weekend in the 24-car field. The crew got the Tynis Construction/Royal Purple/Mac’s Mazda RX7 ready for the race, with 25 cars scheduled for a 35 minute event.

Crispin finished first in his class of Super Unlimited with a fast time of 1:39.779 and placed 2nd overall. But while the crew was changing the tires for Sunday's race they found a small drop of oil from the gear box. After inspection they found a bolt had broken and fell down into the pan by the gears. The plan was to get up early in the morning and take the gear box apart and fix the problem.

The crew started early the next day and removed the gear box to make repairs, missing both the warm up and qualifying sessions and starting at the back of the 18-car field. Crispin took it easy so as to not break anything and just finish the race. His best lap time was a 1:41.815 which was 4th fast for the group. Crispin won still his class. He remains first in the points race and will get ready to go to the Autobahn on July 21-22, 2007 in Joliet, Illinois.

Crispin is now seeking sponsorship to help with car maintenance and get ready for the Nationals in September. If he can secure the funding to compete he will be among the favorites to win the title.
