Beaver's Run Clinches Title
October 8th, 2007
Crispin Beaver needed only to start the NASA race at Indiana's Putnam Park to mathematically eliminate the last contender from the championship title chase for the 2007 season. The race was a two-day event, but simply running the first race of the weekend was sufficient for Crispin's title hopes.
Beaver drove the car gently in the morning practice session in order to preserve it for the race. He qualified second in the field and second in his Super Unlimited class. Crispin was satisfied racing in second place and made his championship official by finishing in the same position.
After the race as the car was being pushed onto the trailer, a shock broke and had to be repaired in order for the car to roll properly. Beaver was fortunate that the mishap didn't occur during the race itself. Running the second feature event of the weekend was unnecessary, so the team returned to the shop to prepare the car for the season finale at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma.
