Beaver Opens 2008 Season With Wins at Hallett, Gateway
April 30th, 2008
Crispin Andrew Beaver has switched from GT-2 to the Spec Miata class for the 2008 season, starting the year with a string of excellent results at several tracks. Chief among them were recent wins at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he won the 2007 GT-2 title, and last week's win at Gateway International Speedway.
The occasion was highlighted by the introduction of a new sponsor - Phil's Tire Service - on Beaver's Mazda Miata. Phil's Tire Service is a strong supporter, with company personnel attending each race. The tires on Beaver's racecar come directly from Phil's Tire Service showroom and are shaved and race prepared by company technicians.
The team qualified second for the April 27th race at Gateway, despite the fact that he had never driven this race track before while many of his opponents had logged many laps around the facility. The day was cool, making the engines produce top horsepower but robbing the tires of their best adhesion.
Crispin settled into second place after the green flag waived, biding his time and waiting for an opportunity. When the leader's tires began to go away, Beaver closed in and made the pass to hang on for his first NASA victory of the season.
CAB Motorsports will run the entire Teen Mazda Challenge East, a series designed for 13-19 year old drivers with stops at Summit Point, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen.
