July 22nd, 2008
After the team got back from the Hyperfest they focused on getting the Phil's Tire/Royal Purple Spec Miata ready for the next Teen Mazda Challenge race in Mid-Ohio. The team has the car race ready and will leave Wednesday evening for Ohio. They stopped to rest Wednesday evening to start out early Thursday morning. Crispin is signed up for practice on Friday.
Arrived Thursday afternoon but had to wait outside the track until they let us go to the paddocks there were other cars on the track at this time. We are the first on the track Friday morning. Went out in the second session. Crispin went out one more time to get the car tuned to the track it handled great. Came in and will get the Royal Purple/Phil's Tire machine ready for the race.
Mark Bennett is here we hope to keep up with him. He is one of the champions here. The track is beautiful. It is very technical track to drive. We go out in the third session in the morning for warm up. There are 31 cars in the class and the weather gave us a break. Crispin was 2nd fast, Mark Bennett 1st. Brought the car in for adjustments for qualifying. When we went out for qualifying it was a down pour we pulled in for we didn't have rain tires.
Started 21st for the race the crew used the rain set up on the regular tires 30 cars started the race most of them had rain tires including Mark. Crispin drove his heart out and finished 7th in class but 2nd for the Teen Challenge.
Got up early to get the Phil's Tire/Royal Purple ready for the warm up. Needless to say it is raining again. Went out but carefully no rain tires. For qualifying it is clearing 32 cars went out. Crispin qualified 2nd to Mark's 1st. Mark had a 1:43.303 Crispin with a 1:43.450. Not a bad run. The crew will get ready for the race. Crispin has adapted to the track right away and has never been here before. Crispin qualified 1st for the Teen Challenge group. 30 cars will start. Mark and Crispin will start them out. They will race for 35 minutes.
Raced three laps and it got red flagged for an accident in the group that started ahead of Crispin. Mark was first Crispin 2nd but 1st in the Teen Challenge group. The team loaded up to head home and get ready for Road Atlanta in August. Crispin is 2nd in points now for the Teen Mazda Challenge.
